Industrial-Style Heavy-Duty Warehouse Shelving — Thickened Steel Multi-Tier Storage Rack

This industrial-grade heavy-duty warehouse shelving system uses thickened steel as the primary structure, configured as a multi-tier beam design. Suitable for vertical storage of pallets, oversized items, and heavy industrial goods in warehouse environments. Uprights and beams are connected via bolts or clip locks, allowing disassembly. Shelving height is customizable for multi-tier vertical layouts, operated with forklifts or stackers. Safety components include beam safety clips, bumper rails, and anti-slip stops as standard.

Core Advantages

Load capacity – Uprights roll-formed from 1.8 to 2.5 mm cold-rolled steel. Beams constructed from rectangular tubes or P-beams with material thickness from 1.5 to 2.0 mm. Per-tier load range from 800 to 2500 kg, depending on span and beam cross-section. Suitable product types include pallets, steel coils, engine components, and bagged materials.

Vertical space utilization – Total height customizable from 4000 to 8000 mm, with 4 to 6 tiers vertically. Storage capacity per floor area is increased by adding tiers rather than expanding the footprint.

Access compatibility – Clear height between tiers is set based on pallet height plus forklift clearance, ranging from 1200 to 2000 mm. Supports both front and side forklift access. Product flow can be configured as FIFO (same-side loading/unloading) or LIFO (load from one end, unload from opposite end), depending on aisle layout.

Structural connections – Beam-to-upright connection via claw-type lock with bolt tightening. Connection points are subjected to shear forces. Each beam end includes a safety clip to prevent beam dislodgement during load sway. All connections are weld-free and assembled on-site using wrenches.

Product Features

    Upright material – Roll-formed cold-rolled steel, cross-section options of 80×60, 100×70, and 120×80 mm, material thickness options of 1.8, 2.0, and 2.5 mm.

Beam material – Rectangular tube or P-beam, cross-section options of 80×50, 100×50, and 120×60 mm, material thickness options of 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 mm.

Shelf panel options – Steel panels (thickness 1.0 to 1.5 mm), steel grid panels, wooden panels (thickness 18 to 22 mm), or no panels (direct pallet placement).

Safety components (standard) – Beam safety clips (1 per connection point), column guards (height 200 to 300 mm), beam anti-slip stops (2 to 4 per beam).

Safety components (optional) – Bumper rails (height 300 to 500 mm), back tie bars (for back-to-back configurations), fall protection nets, panel retaining clips.

Dimension range – Width from 1800 to 3000 mm, depth from 800 to 1200 mm, height from 4000 to 8000 mm.

Number of tiers – 4 to 6 tiers, customized based on total height and product height.

Surface finish – Electrostatic powder coating (indoor use) or hot-dip galvanizing (humid or outdoor environments), coating thickness from 60 to 80 microns.

Floor requirement – Concrete floor of grade C25 or higher, minimum thickness 150 mm, flatness within 5 mm over 2 meters.

Aisle requirement – Forklift aisle width not less than forklift minimum turning radius plus 200 mm; recommended range 3000 to 3800 mm.

Application Scenarios

Raw material areas in manufacturing plants for metal billets, injection-molded parts, and paper rolls.

Heavy-duty pallet storage areas in distribution centers for case-packed beverages, appliances, and chemical drums.

Building material warehouses for stacked bagged cement, gypsum boards, and pipes.

Automotive parts distribution centers for engine blocks, transmissions, and wheel pallets.

Frequently Asked Questions and Precautions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is forklift use mandatory for pallet access?
A: This shelving is designed for forklift and stacker operation. For tier heights exceeding 1800 mm, manual pallet jacks cannot reach that height; electric forklifts or stackers are required. The bottom tier (200 to 500 mm above the floor) can be accessed with manual pallet jacks.

Q: Do different forklift brands affect shelving parameters?
A: Shelving design is based on forklift height, forklift length, and the minimum turning radius of the forklift. Provide the forklift model or these three parameters before ordering to determine the bottom clear height and aisle width.

Q: Can bumper rails completely prevent forklift impact damage?
A: Bumper rails are installed on the exterior of aisle-side upright bases. They absorb partial impact forces from low-speed (less than 3 km/h) collisions, reducing upright deformation. For higher-speed impacts or operator error, bumper rails cannot guarantee damage prevention. Floor-mounted limit stops or rubber impact blocks are recommended as additional measures.

Precautions

Inspect the concrete floor load capacity and flatness before installation. Do not install over cracked or hollow floor areas until repairs are made.

Distribute per-tier loads evenly across the full beam length. Concentrated loads (e.g., a single heavy workpiece placed at one point) shall not exceed 60% of the tier load rating.

High-bay shelving (height exceeding 5000 mm) must be equipped with back tie bars or wall attachments to prevent longitudinal instability.

Beam safety clips must be reinstalled each time beams are repositioned. Do not omit.

Do not stack any goods above the top beam level on the uppermost tier. Maintain a minimum clearance of 500 mm between the highest point of top-tier goods and the ceiling or fire sprinkler heads.

Inspect anchor bolt torque, upright verticality (deviation not exceeding 1/1000 of column height), and beam clip lock status every 6 months.

For liquid container storage, place secondary spill containment trays on shelf panels. Tray volume shall not be less than 110% of the single container capacity.
