L-Shaped Hook for Supermarket Shelving

The L-shaped hook for supermarket shelving features a 90° bent geometry, formed from a single metal wire or flat steel. The rear end is equipped with a standard backplate that inserts into square, pegboard, or round holes on shelf uprights. Depending on the mounting method, the hook arm extends either perpendicular or parallel to the shelf face. The L-shaped structure provides both horizontal and vertical hanging surfaces, suitable for scenarios where products need to face customers from the front of the shelf or require vertical suspension of bagged items. Length options range from 100mm to 400mm in 50mm increments (100/150/200/250/300/350/400mm), selectable based on product dimensions and display orientation.

Core Advantages

90° right-angle structure: Horizontal and vertical arms form a right angle, enabling two hanging orientations simultaneously—products on the horizontal arm project outward, while products on the vertical arm hang downward.

Dual-orientation display: Vertical arm suits bagged or boxed products with hanging holes, presenting the front face to customers. Horizontal arm suits looped products (towel rings, keychains) or hanging baskets.

Space utilization efficiency: The L-shape reduces the front-projected area occupied by hung products, increasing display density per linear shelf meter.

Graded length selection: Seven fixed lengths. Ratio of horizontal to vertical arm customizable (standard ratios: 1:1 or 2:1).

Product Features

Geometric parameters: Horizontal arm length L (100–400mm). Vertical arm length typically 0.5–1× L (customizable). Inside bend radius R3–R8mm to reduce stress concentration.

Material & wire diameter: Carbon steel wire (5mm–8mm diameter) or flat steel (3mm–5mm thickness, 8mm–15mm width). Finishes: electro-galvanizing, hot-dip galvanizing, black electrophoretic coating, or powder coating.

Mounting interface types: Rear backplate (fits 25mm or 32mm pitch), screw-fixed backplate, or square tube clamp base.

Tip anti-slip design: Both arm ends can feature upward or inward bent stops to prevent product detachment.

Label compatibility: Vertical arm accepts slip-on price tag clips or snap-on ring label holders.

Application Scenarios

Supermarket bagged snack aisles: Vertical arm hangs bagged chips, nuts, dried noodles with front face outward; horizontal arm for temporary placement of small items or promotional gifts.

Household goods section: Horizontal arm for towel rings, bath sponges, cleaning brushes; vertical arm for bagged laundry pods, dishwasher tablets.

Hardware tool sections: Vertical arm for hang-carded tools (screwdriver sets, wrenches); horizontal arm for tape measures, chains.

Promotional endcap shelving: Using L-shaped hooks to achieve dual-orientation display on endcaps, increasing variety.

Common Issues & Solutions

Issue: Will the horizontal arm sag or deform under gravity over time?
Solution: Select a wire diameter ≥6mm or a flat steel thickness ≥4mm. For horizontal arms ≥300mm, add diagonal braces or triangular ribs. Perform static load testing on the longest length before batch use—permanent deformation under 5kg at the tip should be <2mm.

Issue: Do bag ears easily slip off the vertical arm?
Solution: Ensure the vertical arm tip has an upward bend (height ≥10mm) or add anti-slip beads. For smooth plastic bag ears, slide a transparent silicone tube over the vertical arm to increase friction.

Issue: Can L-shaped hooks be mixed with straight hooks on the same pegboard?
Solution: Yes, but note that the vertical arm may encroach on the space above the lower shelves. Confirm that the bottom of the vertical arm clears the lower shelf or floor by at least 150mm to avoid interference.

Issue: Is the strength at the 90° bend reliable?
Solution: Prioritize one-piece bent (non-welded) L-shaped hooks. For welded versions, require a full-penetration weld and request weld tensile test reports (reference: weld tensile strength ≥80% of base material).

Product Precautions

Mounting orientation confirmation: Two possible orientations—vertical arm upward (for hanging products) or vertical arm downward (as a stop). Standard retail application recommends a vertical arm upward.

Load limits: Horizontal arm reference load ≤5kg (200mm length, 6mm wire diameter). Vertical arm reference load ≤3kg. Overloading may cause permanent deformation at the 90° bend.

Product dimension matching: Product width should not exceed 1.2× the vertical arm length; otherwise, the product may extend beyond the hook and contact adjacent shelving.

Regular inspection points: Monthly inspection of the 90° bend for fatigue cracks (especially on welded structures), and check backplate-to-hole clearance for enlargement.

Environmental suitability: For refrigerated environments (0–5°C), avoid zinc plating thickness <12μm—low temperatures increase coating brittleness, which may lead to flaking.
